Mothering and Homemaking ramblings...

Hello Sisters!

Our church recently had a conference for women and while I'm sure many were encouraged, I was not.  I'm not saying a conference for women is bad, but a conference that announces over and over again, "we are stronger together" and "we need to find our place and volunteer" is not for me.  If I am going out getting "stronger and stronger" with my sisters and spending time during the week at the religious building, where does that leave my family?

How I like nothing more than to care for my home!  I love to beautify it, assemble fresh flowers on the dining room table, always trying to keep the living room tidy and presentable for family and guests.  I (most of the time) enjoy to serve my husband his meals and make his hot tea, it pleasures me (and him) to meet his needs and to for see them, helping before he even needs to ask.  So, it is the same for my children.

I just LOVE the home, I absolutely LOVE everything in it, from my husband, the children, the kitchen, the couch, my sewing machine, the chickens, my garden, the porch swing...HOW COULD a woman not want to EMBRACE with a passion the call of motherhood, homemaking and wiving?

Both my mother and MIL think I am stupid, ignorant and outdated when it comes to raising daughters to be keepers of the home.  Sometimes I even question myself, thinking the mothers are older and have more wisdom, right?

Maybe I just need my DVDs from Franklin Springs to encourage me. :)

Blessings,
Shannon

Stay, stay at home, my heart, and rest;
Home-keeping hearts are happiest,
For those that wander they know not where
Are full of trouble and full of care;
    To stay at home is best.

Weary and homesick and distressed,
They wander east, they wander west,
And are baffled and beaten and blown about
By the winds of the wilderness of doubt;
    To stay at home is best.

Then stay at home, my heart, and rest;
The bird is safest in its nest;
O'er all that flutter their wings and fly
A hawk is hovering in the sky;
    To stay at home is best.

Shannon,
Um, I've had those same thoughts...the older women are supposed to be wise and teaching us right? Somehow though that doesn't seem to always work the way its supposed to! I supposed its the older women who espouse what the Bible actually says that we can take stock in :-) It;s really hard to find those kind! I keep telling myself I have to be one of them, when it's my time, when my girls are older, and they have their friends coming over, etc. For now, I seem to be learning as I go.

I checked out your Urban site. MMmmmmm yummy stuff! This pregnant mamma could use some raw treats :-)

Have an awesome day...love the new look of your site, and the slideshow.

Blessings,
Kerri
