Jesus Save Me From Your Followers (or something like that) was a movie I watched tonight on Netflex (an instant download.)
Some things I learned...
Why are Christians wanting to get rid of abortion? It's their children who are getting the abortions. I know of personally 1 Christian family who is actively involved, Dad is a deacon, family is really active in church and Dad took daughter twice for an abortion. The church we used to work at had a Youth Pastor who would personally take any girl to get birth control or an abortion. I even confirmed this by talking to her and she told me YES, everything was true. And the pastor kept her on staff!
Jesus never said to be "RIGHT." He said to LOVE. Somehow Christians has this crazy notion that they always have to be "right." Where is that in the scripture? Where did Jesus ever say that? I do think somewhere in the bible He did say to love???
Don't miss the game in "family feud" style. The have the Secularists or Liberals and then the Conservatives or the Christians. Guess who wins EACH time by a LANDSLIDE.....the Secularists!!!!! It's amazing why......but as I watched it, I shook my head up and down and said, "we Christians do that, we are guilty!"
The producer (who is a Christian) goes to the gay pride festival and sets up a confession booth and as the gay people come in, one by one he confesses his sin of not loving, being hateful, calling aids a "gay only" disease, etc.... That part of the movie had me CRYING and repenting in my own heart.
I still have 18 minutes of the movie left, so I can't tell you how it ends. They have a guy on by the name of Tony Campolo. I went to Wikipedia to find more about him. This is one of his quotes...
"I have three things I'd like to say today. First, while you were sleeping last night, 30,000 kids died of starvation or diseases related to malnutrition. Second, most of you don't give a shit. What's worse is that you're more upset with the fact that I said shit than the fact that 30,000 kids died last night."
The movie for me, has been all the things I have been thinking and pondering and wondering for the last 10 years, I guess I'm not the only one. :)
Blessings,
Shannon
