How many thoughts a day do you get of, "She has it so together, she is really taking care of her body, her house is so organized, they have so much money and they can buy what they need for their children, if my husband was like...I could be much more productive."
Well, I have been having those thoughts like crazy! My husband is not making a lot of money at present and my mind just sees other families that can do more for their children. I go to the gym and I see other women that are in better shape than I am. I just bought my husband the book by Steve Maxwell, I don't know what it is called, but it is about managing time. Anyway, I read the first paragraph of chapter 10 and just cried and cried and thought, this is what I've been trying to relay to my hubby for 20 years! (I'm not going to read ANY of the book anymore!)
You know. There are more organized and focused husbands, women with better bodies, better behaved children, and families with a little more money. That's how it is. It's life!
The Lord reminded me of the scripture....
"Son pay ATTENTION to what I say (not other people I see during the day), LISTEN to My words. NEVER LET THEM GET AWAY FROM YOU. REMEMBER them and keep them in your heart. They will give LIFE and HEALTH to anyone who understands them. BE CAREFUL HOW YOU THINK; YOUR LIFE IS SHAPED BY YOUR THOUGHTS. Proverbs 4:20
I MUST continue to RENEW my mind to things of Christ Jesus. I must meditate on the Word and what it says, rather than my circumstances.
My husband may never to organized and focused, and I may never be totally toned like I was when I was 18. But would I want to be????? (of course I would, but it's not going to happen.) Other families may be organized and have better behaved children.
I can purpose to be thankful for WHAT I DO HAVE. And all of us in the U.S. have so much more than many other people, that's just a blessing in itself! Not only am I going to speak OUT LOUD my thankfulness when I am tempted to speak the circumstances, I am also going to speak OUT LOUD the GOOD things to come that are on their way. :)
Gotta go, hubby just came home with In and Out. :)
Blessings,
Shannon
