I don't have long to type, so here is what my day looks like. Well, I went to the gym at 5:30am, which I do 4 days a week. When I get home about 6:45 I have my time with the Lord and a green drink (green means whatever is in the garden and an orange from our tree.) This morning I decided I bless myself and drink a Starbucks in the car and read the Word (sometimes, I can do this when I come home and everyone is still asleep!)
Tree trimmers are here today to take down 50% of our 60 foot Ash tree, a non-producing Avocado, and trim my Orange tree. In my heart I hoped for some mulch a few weeks ago, but after checking out the prices for even a small truck load, I knew I'd have to save up for a while. Well, guess what, the trimmers will give me all my mulch! I'll have enough for the next 10 years! And that's great because I plan on making my front yard into a habitat of relaxation by adding more raised beds for vegetables, fruits, wildflowers and herbs. Once the "gardening bug" bites, it's hard to not always be thinking of ways to expand!
I set up some chairs in the backyard and the 7yob, 2yog, and myself watched the "free show" while reading poems (in between the starting and stopping of the chain saw) about trees. After learning at home for 17 years, I look back and see what a TRIED AND TRUE method Unschooling is. Opportunities abound ALL DAY LONG if we will just r e l a x and answer their questions, snuggle in bed and read with them, talk, hug, tell them, "I love you, what a blessing you are!"
I just made some coconut, maple syrup, walnut, cocoa, little ball thinges, and they are GREAT and better with a cup of coffee! So that's what I'm eating while typing. 3 of my children are at Disneyland with their cousins because they had free tickets. The 17 yog, myself, and the 2 youngest are going to go down to Whole Foods to pick up some flours I ordered and will probably take a walk on the beach.
I'd like to talk more...but can't. I'm also getting my hair cut today. Hmmmm, I want something different. My hair is to the middle of my back and I just look a little too frumpy. My children think I should get a Victoria Beckham (sp?) hair cut. :)
Talk later. :)
Blessings,
Shannon

Staying home is best!
