Yosemite TODAY!, gardening, eating well...

Hello Sisters!

Today brings a very exciting day for our family! We are taking a vacation in Yosemite for a week!!! Eric’s grandparents live about 30 minutes from the actual Yosemite Valley and we will be staying at their home. One of the nice features that convinced me to go is that his granparents house is so large that they have their own “wing” and we will have the guest “wing.” Our room includes an outdoor patio deep in the forest with the children’s room connecting to ours, but with the older teens sleeping with the younger ones, I don’t see why we need to enable the “connecting feature.”

It was about 9 years ago when I first experienced the Lord’s physical healing for our family. You can read that here http://blestmomma.blogspot.com/search?updated-min=2006-01-01T00%3A00%3A00-08%3A00&updated-max=2007-01-01T00%3A00%3A00-08%3A00&max-results=2 I was so excited that Jesus didn’t just die for my salvation, but by His stripes I was healed. I remember saying, “I can eat anything I want to because eating right is not the bible (well it is the in Old Test.)” But I was young in my new found faith and for almost a year we ate crap and never ever had even a runny nose! That was the Lord’s mercy! The Lord did that for me at that time because I was new to trusting Him in this way. I was also staying up for HOURS searching the scriptures, singing, praying and speaking in tongues. The Lord honored my effort to meet with Him and know Him that He overlooked my silliness in the area of eating.

Nothing man does is good (my bible is packed away, but I think that is Romans 8) and knowing what man does to food we buy in stores, shame on me if I continue to eat them. EVERYTHING that comes from the Father’s hand is BRILLIANT!!! He made grains, seeds, nuts, brightly colored fruits and juicy vegetables, life giving oils, fresh milk, and fresh meat.

Man takes all the things God has made and alters them so drastically, that the end result is death. Take fruit for example. When I pull an apple off my tree, it is in its natural state, full of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, nothing has tampered with it. It is perfect to meet the needs of my body. Now, when producers (man) get a hold of the apple, they spray it with chemicals to make it grow, spray it with chemicals to keep the bugs off it and they depending on how far it has traveled to reach its destination, it was probably sprayed or injected with more crap to give it a longer shelf life. The apple is older by weeks, maybe months and full of synthetic chemicals. Now if it is a can of apples they cook them at such a high heat and for so long, they cook all the good stuff right out. An apple at the store if NOT organic is about the same poor quality as a can of apples. But the apples from my tree are NUTRIENT DENSE, they are just flowing with cold fighters, anti age enzymes and they are powerhouses of energy (so now I don’t need coffee anymore.) I’ve know all this for years as my parents ate whole foods, but having 6 children, I got a little of course.

We have about 15 fruit trees in our yard. We have our own chickens and a raised bed garden. When I am out there tending my FOOD, I can totally understand why people worship the creation! There is a feeling that is like worship when you are handling what you will be nourishing your family with. There just is. Many of you know what I’m talking about! I’m always yelling, “Oh my gosh, kids come here, look what the Lord did, taste how beautiful and sweet this carrot is!” When I shove my hand deep into my compost pile and feel and see the steam, I’m excited! I’m so excited that I usually grab who’s ever around and let them experience the wonders and marvels of making your own soil!!!!!!

So, now I was thinking. Sometimes I think too much and sometimes not at all. But I’m thinking how I can incorporate my children’s LIFE-LONG learning process into gardening. How would we be able to do math, English, history and science (right there that is wrong thinking because I have segregated each subject, when in real life nothing is segregated, they all mesh at some point or another.)
We make our own herbal tinctures, we make our own Kombucha, make our own bread, we get a lot of our own fruit and vegs right from our OWN garden, we make our own soil, we grow our own wild flowers, THERE IS A WAY TO MAKE MONEY HERE! Could we do “school” and make money at the same time? I know we could!!!

Well, it time for me to get off the computer as we will be going in a couple of hours.

My weight is going down! I eat about 70% raw and the rest cooked beans and rice and sometimes In and Out! I go to they gym 4 days a week and physically and spiritually feel real good!

See you all next week with pictures.

Blessings,
Shannon

Shannon,
Bueatiful pictures! I am sure you are off on your vacation by now, I do hope it was a blessed time! I feel the same way about food. We have two garden beds, that we put in last year, but had no garden! I am hoping to get things in there this year though. I have been wanting fruit trees for a long time. We keep putting it off, and I am thinking that they would be producing by now had we bought some years ago. Oh well, try, try again :-) Thank you as always for your encouraging words.

Blessings,
Kerri
